Common questions
Everything below is general information about injectable treatment at VIAL. It is not medical advice, and it is not a substitute for a consultation. Anything specific to you is answered in person, by a provider who has looked at your face.
Booking and appointments
Where are you located, and when are you open?
144 W. Main Street, Westfield, Indiana. Business hours are Monday to Friday, 9 to 3, and every other Saturday. Booking Online is the fastest way to see open appointment times.
How does booking work?
Book online anytime and your appointment is confirmed straight away. Cancel or reschedule with more than 24 hours notice to avoid a cancellation fee.
Do I need a consultation first?
No, you don’t need a consultation first. If you want a dedicated time to discuss your goals, this is a great option for you.
How long should I allow?
Allow an hour for a first visit, which includes your consultation. Follow-up appointments are usually shorter. We do not run a conveyor belt, so if your appointment needs more time, it gets more time.
What if I need to cancel or reschedule?
Cancel or reschedule with more than 24 hours notice and there is no charge. Inside 24 hours, or if you do not attend, a fee applies. The amount is shown to you when you book.
Can I call or text instead of booking online?
Yes. Call or text (317) 617-6232 during business hours and we will book it with you. The online calendar is simply the fastest way to see what is open.
Who will I see?
Amanda Bouslog, our master injector, or Dr. Kaete Archer. You will know who you are booked with before you arrive.
Treatments and results
Will I look done?
No. Our whole approach is restraint: natural movement, subtle refinement, and maintenance over transformation. If less is the honest answer, that’s what we’ll tell you.
What is the difference between neuromodulators and dermal fillers?
They do different jobs. Neuromodulators soften the lines that come from movement, by relaxing the muscle underneath. Fillers restore volume where it has been lost, in areas like the lips, cheeks, chin and jawline. Many people have both, and which one you need is part of the consultation.
How long do results last?
It depends on the treatment, the product and on you. Neuromodulators typically run on a three to four month rhythm. Filler results generally last longer, though the range is wide and depends on the area treated. Your provider will give you a realistic timeframe for your own treatment.
When will I see a result?
Filler is visible immediately, though it settles over the following weeks as any swelling resolves. Neuromodulators are gradual, developing over several days rather than appearing at once. Neither is at its final result on the day.
Do you offer anything other than injectables?
No, and that is deliberate. We do one thing carefully rather than many things adequately.
Is a physician actually involved in my care?
Yes. VIAL is owned and led by Dr. Kaete Archer, a triple board-certified facial plastic surgeon. She is present in the practice, treats patients herself, sets every clinical protocol and is accountable for the standard of care. This is a doctor’s office, not a med spa with a name on a licence.
Safety and aftercare
Does it hurt?
Most people describe it as very manageable rather than painful. Numbing is available, the needles are fine, and treatments are quick. Tell your provider if you are anxious about needles. It is a common conversation here and it changes how the appointment is run.
What should I expect afterwards?
Some redness, swelling or small bruising at the injection sites is normal and usually settles within a few days. Filler areas may look slightly fuller at first. You will be given specific aftercare for your treatment before you leave.
Are there risks?
Yes. All injectable treatment carries risk, including bruising, swelling, asymmetry, infection and, rarely, more serious complications. The risks that apply to you and to your specific treatment are discussed at consultation, before anything is given. See our Medical Disclaimer for more.
Is everyone a candidate?
No. Some people are not suitable for injectable treatment, and that is determined by a provider at consultation rather than by a website. If we do not think a treatment is right for you, we will say so.
Can I come in before an event?
Leave time. Book at least two weeks before anything important so that any swelling or bruising has fully settled and neuromodulator results have developed. Two weeks before is comfortable. Two days before is not.
How much does it cost?
Pricing depends on the treatment and on how much product is needed, so it is given to you at consultation before anything goes ahead. Nothing is ever done without you knowing the cost first.
